Terms of service
Last updated: October 19, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and WAYNE HSU LTD about using the Hookbase app, its server and this website. Please read them; they’re short.
1. Who we are
Hookbase is run by WAYNE HSU LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (number 16001721), whose registered office is A102 Legacy Building, 1 Viaduct Gardens, London SW11 7AY. “We” and “us” in these terms mean WAYNE HSU LTD. You can reach us at support@hookbase.so.
2. The service
Hookbase is a Mac app for saving and studying public Instagram posts and Meta ads, with a server that looks up those posts for you and an account that holds your plan. These terms apply when you download the app, create an account or use the server, including through an agent or the iPhone Shortcut.
3. Your account
You need an account to save links. Keep your sign-in and API keys private: anything done with them counts as done by you. Revoke a key in Settings → API keys if you think someone else has it. You must be at least 16, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
4. Plans and payments
Plans are paid monthly or yearly in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until you cancel. Each plan includes an amount of usage every month; the pricing page describes it. Unused usage doesn’t carry over. Prices can change; we’ll tell you before a change affects your next renewal.
You can cancel anytime from Settings → Plan & usage → Manage billing. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for.
If you’re a consumer in the UK or the EU, you can also cancel within 14 days of first subscribing, or of switching to a yearly plan, by writing to support@hookbase.so. You’ll get a refund, less a fair share for the usage you’d already used. Otherwise payments are not refundable, except where the law requires a refund or we agree to one; write to support@hookbase.so if something went wrong.
5. Using Hookbase well
Use Hookbase for research and creative work. Don’t:
- break the law, or anyone’s intellectual property or privacy;
- republish other people’s posts or ads as your own, or use what you save to harass or track individuals;
- resell access to Hookbase, share your account outside your team or publish your API keys;
- work around plan limits, overload the server or try to reach another account’s information.
6. Content you save
The posts and ads you save belong to the people who made them. Hookbase helps you study them; it doesn’t give you rights to reuse them. You’re responsible for how you use what you save and what you make from it, including respecting each platform’s terms and the creators’ rights.
What you create with Hookbase, such as your notes and the creative in Studio, is yours. Creators and advertisers can ask us to remove their posts from our catalog at support@hookbase.so.
7. Availability
Hookbase depends on public data from Instagram and the Meta Ad Library, reached through other providers. Those sources can change or stop working, and some links can’t be saved. Failed links don’t use your usage. We work to keep Hookbase running, but we don’t promise it will always be available or that every link will work.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using Hookbase and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, with notice where we reasonably can. Your library stays on your Mac either way.
9. Disclaimers and liability
Hookbase is provided as it is. Its transcripts, on-screen text, numbers and hooks can be incomplete or wrong; check what matters before you rely on it. To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes go to its courts. If you’re a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we’ll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; using Hookbase after that means you accept it. Questions: support@hookbase.so. Our privacy practices are in the privacy policy.
